Is Diet Soda Bad For You?

If you're trying to reducesugar and calories in your nutrition, you may want to turn toartificial sweeteners or other sugar replaces. Some of thosealternatives, however, are linked to an increasein certain infections, including dementiaand Type 2 diabetes. Dr. Brandy Patterson excuses inthis segment of Straight Talk MD. Hi, welcome toStraight Talk MD. I'm Dr. Brandy P. There aremany meat and beverages available todaythat money themselves as healthier alternatives. Manager among them diet sodas. These artificiallysweetened cups are frequently lower incalories than regular soda. But now that these productshave been available for a while, we've had a chanceto investigate the longterm impactsof consumption. We now know that theyare far from healthy. The artificial sweetenersfound in diet drinks, saccharin andaspartame, for example, have already been linked with anincrease in dementia, obesity, metabolic ailment, and Type 2 diabetes. The population basedwomen's health strategy, which examined causes ofmorbidity and fatality in postmenopausalwomen, is shedding light on yet another risk ofconsuming artificial sweeteners. This study, followedpostmenopausal women, senilities 50 to 79, foralmost 12 years. Those with no autobiography ofdiabetes or heart disease, but who imbibe two or moreartificially sweetened 12 ounce refreshments per day had asignificantly increased risk of clot based strokes, heartattacks, and early death. The risk was highestamong those women who were obese and/ orAfricanAmerican. After limiting forlifestyle ingredients, the study found thatwomen who destroyed two or more artificiallysweetened liquids each day were 31% more likely to havea clot based blow, 29% more likely tohave heart disease, and 16% more likelyto die from any reason than women who drank dietbeverages less than formerly a week or none at all. Although this particular studyincluded postmenopausal women only, I believe that thereis enough evidence from this and previous studies toconclude that consuming more than two artificiallysweetened liquors per daylight is still not a healthyoption for anyone. That doesn't mean youshould stimulate the switching over to regular soda. Those are laden with unhealthysugars and corn syrup. Instead, try computing some freshfruit, like a lemon or a lime to a glass of wateror sparkling water. Break that soda dres. I know you can do it.And you're going tobe better off for it.
